Carbium Privacy Policy

Effective July 26, 2026

This policy covers the Carbium app for iOS, published by XL Concepts ("we", "us"). It describes what data the app handles and where that data lives.

Data we collect

None.

Carbium has no account system, no sign-up, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. We operate no servers. Nothing you log is ever sent to us, and there is no copy of your data that we could read, sell, or hand over.

Data stored on your device

Everything you enter is stored locally on your device in the app's private storage. That includes:

The built-in food database ships inside the app itself. Searching it does not touch the network, so what you search for never leaves your phone.

iCloud backup

So that your log survives a lost phone or a reinstall, Carbium keeps a copy in your own iCloud using Apple's iCloud key-value storage. This is stored on Apple's servers, inside your personal Apple Account, and is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

We have no access to it. It is not our iCloud account and not our server; we cannot read it, and we receive nothing when it syncs. It works the same way your own device backup does. If you turn iCloud off for Carbium in iOS Settings, the app keeps working entirely on-device.

Barcode scanning

When you scan a barcode, the app sends the digits printed in that barcode to Open Food Facts, a free public food database, in order to look up the product. Only the barcode number is sent. No identifier, account, location, or anything else about you is attached, and we never see the request. Open Food Facts handles it under their own privacy policy. If you never scan a barcode, the app makes no food-lookup requests at all.

Carbium Pro

Carbium Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription. Payment is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store under Apple's privacy policy. We never see your payment details. The app asks Apple whether the current Apple Account has an active subscription and stores nothing else about it.

Health data

Carbium does not read from or write to Apple Health. The nutrition and weight information you enter stays inside the app.

Your rights

Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, sell, share, or delete. You can export your whole log as a CSV file from the app at any time, and deleting the app removes its data from your device. To remove the iCloud copy as well, turn off iCloud for Carbium in iOS Settings before deleting the app, or delete the app's data from iCloud in Settings, your name, iCloud, Manage Account Storage.

Children

The app collects no data from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of the app changes any of the above, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the change will be noted in the App Store release notes. The effective date above always reflects the current version of this policy.
