Common questions
Where is my data stored?
On your phone, with a backup copy in your own iCloud so it survives a lost phone or a reinstall. There is no account, and nothing about your log reaches us. See the privacy policy for the full picture.
What is free, and what does Pro add?
The free app is a complete tracker: unlimited logging, barcode scanning, the entire built-in food database, your daily targets, weight logging, and the last week of history. Carbium Pro adds the analysis on top: adaptive TDEE, the smoothed weight trend and charts, unlimited history, the weekly carb plan, unlimited saved meals, and CSV export.
How much is Pro, and how do I cancel?
Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, offered weekly, monthly or yearly. The exact price is shown in the app before you buy, in your own currency. It renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Cancel any time in Settings, your name, Subscriptions on your iPhone. Cancelling leaves you on the free app with all your data intact.
I already paid. How do I get Pro on a new phone?
Open Settings in the app and tap Restore purchases. Your subscription is tied to your Apple Account, so you never pay twice.
What is adaptive TDEE, and why does it say "not enough data yet"?
It measures what you actually burn by comparing what you logged against how your weight trend moved, instead of trusting a formula. That needs roughly two weeks of consistent logging and several weigh-ins before it can say anything honest, so until then the app uses the standard Mifflin-St Jeor formula and tells you so.
If you have just started a low-carb diet, the app also ignores your first ten days of weigh-ins. Early low-carb weight loss is mostly water, and counting it would tell you that you burn far more than you do.
A barcode did not scan, or the product was wrong.
Barcode data comes from Open Food Facts, a public database that anyone can contribute to, so coverage varies by country and some entries are incomplete. You can always add the food by hand, and it will be there for next time.
Why are the calories on a food different from the package?
Nutrition data comes from the USDA database and from Open Food Facts. Manufacturers reformulate, and rounding rules differ between countries. When the package disagrees with the app, trust the package, and add the food as a custom food with the package's numbers.
Can I request a feature?
Yes, email us. The roadmap is driven by requests.

A note on health
Carbium is a food diary and a calculator, not medical advice. Its targets are general estimates from standard formulas and the details you enter, and nutrition data may be incomplete or inaccurate. Talk to a doctor or a registered dietitian before making significant changes to your diet, especially if you are pregnant, managing diabetes, or taking medication. Carbium is provided under Apple's standard app license agreement, which is displayed with the app on the App Store.
